Fluorescent Lightbulb (3D Studio Max modeling tutorial) - step 13
Throw a MeshSmooth modifier with 2-3 Iterations on our geometry and Wow! look at the nice shape we created. Time to work on the base of our lightbulb. Right-click our object, go into its properties and make it See-Through, then freeze it.
Fluorescent Lightbulb (3D Studio Max modeling tutorial) - step 14
Let's create the base of the lightbulb. Start with a Box in the center of the grid (also centered on the top part of the lightbulb) with the following parameters: Length: 60, Width: 60, Height: -20 and 1 segment on all sides. Convert it to an Editable Poly. Select the top polygon and Inset it (Amount: 3).
Fluorescent Lightbulb (3D Studio Max modeling tutorial) - step 15
Continue to work with the selected poly: Extrude it (Height: 3) and then Inset it once more (Amount: 2). Move the object lower to just slightly cover the bottom part of the frozen geometry.
